Some sturdy scarecrows from the Seventh Annual Saline Scarecrow Contest have actually made it to the end of October still upright and have found themselves the recipient of not only the familiar peoples choice popular vote, but new for 2018 awards bestowed by a panel of local artists and saline school art teachers.
All winner's were unveiled at the Second Annual Saline Trunk or Treat held downtown Saline in the Key Bank parking lot on October 24th. Many of the winners were on display for the long line of costumed trunk or treaters to see and many took the opportunity to stop to take a picture with their favorite.
Also worthy of a selfie were the many Star Wars characters that joined the fun to celebrate the Star Wars theme for the 2018 contest.
The following awards were selected by the panel of art teachers and artists:
"Best of Show" to "Greedo" created by The Saline Post.
"Best Artistic Presentation" to "Chewbacca" created by The Saline Area Girl Scouts Troop 40346.
"Whimsical Award" to "Play the Drums" created by Hand in Hand Music Together.
"Best Interpretation of Theme" to "Han Solo in Carbonite" created by Carrigan Cafe.
"Best Use of Technology" to "Jabba the Hut" created by Saline Optometry.
The Peoples Choice awards based on voting were as follows:
First Place Individual - "Greedo" by The Saline Post.

Third Place Individual - "Death of Print Media Star" by The SalineJournal.com
