The Eighth Annual Saline Scarecrow Contest celebrates and acknowledges all the hard work, creativity and talent that went into the scarecrows that livened up the sidewalks around Saline during the month of October. Awards were delivered in two different categories. One category was by popular vote. The second category was delivered by a special panel of artists.
All winners were unveiled at the Third Annual Saline Trunk or Treat held downtown Saline in the Key Bank parking lot on October 23rd. Many of the winners were on display for the long line of costumed trunk or treaters to see and many took the opportunity to stop to take a picture with their favorite.
The theme for the 2019 contest was "Superheroes".
The following awards were selected by the panel of art teachers and artists:
"Best of Show" to "The Man with X-Ray Vision" created by Saline Optometry.
"Best Artistic Presentation" to "The Man with X-Ray Vision" created by Saline Optometry.
"Best Interpretation of Theme" to "Have no Fear, Underdog is Here" created by The Saline Post.
The Peoples Choice awards based on voting were as follows:
First Place Individual - "Have no Fear, Underdog is Here" by The Saline Post.
Second Place Individual - "What's Your Superpower? I'm Miss Saline 2020" by Miss Saline 2020
First Place Group - "Code Cat" by City of Saline Building Department
Second Place Group - "Defender of Positive Goals" by Saline FC
Third Place Group - "V.I.P.S. (Volunteers in Public Safety)" by City of Saline Police Department
First Place Small Business - "Firefighter" by Hinckley Excavating
Second Place Small Business - "Capitain Latitude" by Latitude CG
Third Place Small Business - "Super Shopper" by Nu2u Again Resale
First Place Large Business - "Super Helper" by Bank of Ann Arbor
Second Place Large Business - "Super Saver" by CP Federal Credit Union
Third Place Large Business - "Spidey" by Emagine Entertainment Saline
