Best of 2021 Scarecrow Contest Selected - 10th Annual Event wraps up

Patriotism was on full display during the month of October in downtown Saline, MI as entries for the 10th Annual 2021 Saline Scarecrow Contest matched the theme: "Red, White and Blue - Let Your Patriotism Shine Through".

Entries showed up starting at the beginning of October reflecting individuals creativity in interpreting this years patriotic theme.  The Boyless family created an impressive rendering of Neil Armstrong landing on the moon titled "Stars and Stripes on the Moon".  Many agreed with it's merits as it garnered the top vote count for the Peoples Choice award in the Individual Category.  The panel of juried artists also gave Neil the nod awarding the entry "Best of Show".

Another frequent participant in the annual contest, Saline Optometry entered "Betsy Ross" sewing the original 13 colonies flag and was rewarded with the "Best Artistic Presentation" award.

The third most coveted award, "Best Interpretation of the Theme" went to first time entrant the Brigg family with "Anchors Away" a rendition of the iconic image of a returning Navy sailor holding a nurse in his arms in the middle of downtown San Francisco amid the celebration of Victory-Pacific day concluding WW2.
